INVESTIGATING STILLNESS
2019
Cotton, Nylon, Silk, Paper
Considering material as physical bearers of abstract ideas, investigating moments of stillness and rest in mundane tasks. One particular act of cutting and tearing paper resulted in a particular visual language of abstractness, with solid form and colour. By viewing cloth as a carrier of encoded language, these everyday restful acts were translated into imprints and marks with weaving and compositions that were stencil screen-printed, one-by-one onto the textile.
